A large producer of frozen meals located in northwest Arkansas sought to reduce energy use and costs while maintaining or increasing product quality and production capabilities. The plant utilities staff has been aggressively pursuing energy efficiency improvements and wished to do more. The utilities manager asked Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) and the IRC to help identify opportunities for increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the refrigeration and space-conditioning systems.
